Hawker Entranceway
Hawker, Flinders Ranges SA
2023 Winner: Best Entrance Art
This exceptional installation entices visitors to the Flinders Ranges and Outback township of Hawker in South Australia.

Visually striking, it stands more than two metres high and embodies a powerful narrative of cultural preservation and community rejuvenation. Local Aboriginal engagement played a pivotal role in this project, infusing it with rich heritage and authenticity.

The artwork by Juanella McKenzie from Armsign invites travellers to explore the path less travelled and beckons them to pause before venturing further into Hawker, a Flinders Ranges Council destination.

For many travellers, Hawker is the oasis that serves as their launching pad to visit nearby Arkaroola or to head north to Lyndhurst and Marree before taking the famous Strzelecki Track to isolated Innamincka and then into Southwest Queensland.
Where? Hawker is a three-and-a-half hour drive north of Adelaide in the Flinders Ranges SA.

Best viewing times: Anytime with good pull-off spaces for long vehicles.
